Looking back, or looking forward?
The end to another year is literally hours away. One of my favorite quotes comes from Richard Bach’s book, Illusions, in which he writes “….what the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly.” Every now and then I recall that excerpt and trust that in every ending there is a beginning. Where 2010 ends, 2011 begins, and so it goes.
The past twelve months have been jam-packed with accomplishments and activities. One year ago today, The UPS Store of Mt. Juliet was only a month old. We had just gotten through our first shipping peak, and I’m pleased to say that only one claim came up out of the 900+ packages we shipped last year. So far, the situation is the same for this year—only one claim out of the 1200+ packages we shipped this month. We work very hard to make sure that any items we pack arrive safely, but we also work hard to make sure that anyone who wants to do their own packaging knows how to do it correctly. This is one of the goals for this blog—to educate and inform our customers and future customers about things that are important to them.
Over the past year, the associates at The UPS Store of Mt. Juliet have handled thousands of shipping packages and mail pieces. We have added wide format printing to our printing capabilities, and we’ve found that architects and construction professionals are not the only ones interested in over-sized prints. We have a customer who gets her monthly activity calendar enlarged so that the nursing home residents she serves can see/read the information better. She told us one month that a woman who had not been participating in any activities started to get more involved when the enlarged calendars were made available. Our wide format printer also has scanning capability in both black & white and color. We had the chance to use the color scanning recently when a customer asked us to produce greeting cards using an image from an oil painting. Oil painting. Like on canvas. We created a brilliant color paper copy from the canvas and then scanned it to a .jpg file. Minutes later, greeting cards were born! The image was crisp, clear, and finely detailed. The opportunity to solve a need gave us a new ability.
In every ending there lies a beginning, and in every need there lies an opportunity. Virtually every service we provide solves some kind of need. We welcome the opportunity to solve yours. ‘Til next time!

This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I love seeing websites that understand the value of providing a quality information. Thanks for sharing.
